What: New Year’s Indoor Sand 4v4 Hat Tournament
When: Saturday, January 3rd. Games from 3 PM until 7 PM. Please arrive early.
Where: Boombox Beach Club – 2200 NE 63rd St, Oklahoma City, OK 73111
Registration: Price is $15 per person. Registration will close January 2nd. This price does NOT include a jersey, your registration dollars go towards field rental and insurance.
Facility Website: http://boomboxokc.com/ There are 8 indoor climate-controlled beach sand volleyball courts and 6 outdoor beach sand volleyball courts. Our fields will be played on one side of 3 adjacent volleyball courts that make a total of 2 fields for every 3 volleyball courts. No footwear required! Tennis shoes are not allowed on the sand. However, participants may be allowed to wear socks, sand socks or other soft foot-covering materials. Showers and bathrooms on site. There is a social area with a café and bar. No outside alcohol is permitted. No smoking is allowed in the facility. No food or glass is allowed on the sand-covered areas. Please try not to spill water on the sand.

Bring: Jersey’s will NOT be provided! Bring your own white and black shirt and all your friends!
Logistics: The field size will be approximately 90’ x 25’, which includes the ~15’ endzones. This is an indoor volleyball arena, so there is a natural boundary on one side of each field with a volleyball net. These will be quite close to the field of play and are natural barriers while playing. On the other side is a wall/no boundary/columns/water spigots. This means that if the disc contacts any out-of-bounds surface including a wall, column or a net, results is a turnover. The most important thing is safety so we will expect people to be mindful of the walls and volleyball equipment.
Description: For those of you unfamiliar with hat tournaments, they are one day tournaments with pool play games for the first two hours then bracket play for the last two hours.
4v4 sand ultimate with 3/1 male/female matching players. There will be 2 indoor fields. We will have ~8 teams of about 8 players each. Each team will play about 5-7 games.
- Each team will play about 5 to 7 games. There will be pool play and then a bracket. You will very frequently have a bye between games.
- Game Length: 15 Minutes
- A 20-minute rolling clock will start every 20 minutes, starting at 3:00 PM sharp
- Teams should use the 5 minutes before games to warm-up.
- Games should begin when the rolling clock reaches 15 minutes
- Play shall be 4v4, Gender ratio: 3 men to 1 woman
You will rate yourself, and then put your name into a “hat” with other individuals of that rating. Teams will then be established by picking from all the “hats”. We plan to do this the night before when we close registration. Please let us know if you will not be attending, but had already signed up.
You will meet loads of new people and have a blast playing ultimate!
